About EFCE

The Ethiopian Form for Constructive Engagement, established in 2014, is a non-governmental, non‐profit and non‐partisan Peacemaking organization in the advancement of truth, justice, reconciliation and human rights.

To help facilitate in engaging in constructive dialogues among the different Ethiopian community of interests and political perspectives for the advancement of good will, trust and mutualism.

To advise and support the Ethiopian educational curricula for middle and high school students to incorporate soft skills such as conflict resolution, negotiation and peer-mediation that are essential for personal growth, organizational success and nation building especially in a multi-ethnic country.

Using the art and science of conflict resolution and mediation promote a culture of constructive dialogue among Ethiopians at home and the diaspora.

Goal

In Collaboration with peacemaking and peacebuilding individuals, groups as well as organizations in Ethiopia and Ethiopians in the diaspora, create a forum for the Ethiopian diverse communities of interests and political perspectives to engage in constructive dialogues for the advancement of good will, trust and mutualism.

Objectives

Our short-term objectives include supporting the democratic change and transition work in Ethiopia by collaborating with individuals and groups in the diaspora as well as the Ethiopian Elders and the recently established Reconciliation and Peace commission.

Our long-term objectives:

  1. Help develop the national education curricula to incorporate soft skills that are essential for personal growth, organizational success and important in nation building in a country such as Ethiopia where diversity is the norm rather than the exception. The specific skills that we would like to support integrating in educational curricula include, conflict resolution, negotiation, peer-mediation, emotional intelligence management, critical thinking as well as personal and organizational ethics.
  2. Expand the reach of the Enable Her project which is a self-help educational program for high school girls in preparing sanitation pads for personal use and well water.
  3. Book drive-we collect and deliver textbooks in all areas of studies for undergraduate and graduate programs of the Ethiopian universities.
